Apple has found a supplier for an OLED-making machine other than Samsung. However, it may take at least two years for the Cupertino-based company to finally get one.

Apple is expected to release three new iPhones in 2017, iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone 8. The company is said to be adopting OLED screens in a big way for its flagship. It’s the first time the company is doing so. Numerous reports have speculated that only one of Apple’s iPhones in 2017 will get the OLED Display and it would be the Apple iPhone 8. The successors of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will still have LCD Displays.

According to BGR, there is still a possibility that the OLED screens may also come to the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. An Apple Insider report revealed that the Cupertino-based tech giant may also go for an OLED display for the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. Analyst Timothy Arcuri of Cowen and Company believe, Apple’s decision to go with OLED screens for all three variants is heavily dependent on Samsung’s capacity to supply the screens to Apple and also on consumption of the existing LCD screens.

The Apple iPhone 8 will sport a never-before-seen wraparound 5.8-inch OLED screen. Earlier reports had revealed that Samsung would be the only supplier of OLED screens for Apple though it seems unlikely that Samsung will be able to meet Apple’s demand for the screens. Apple’s moves are being closely followed by other smartphone manufacturers and they may soon introduce handsets with OLED screens in the market.

According to Forbes, the Apple iPhone 7s and iPhone 7 s Plus will be simply upgraded versions of iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The big question is will Apple fans go for the upgraded versions of the already-existing iPhones or simply invest their money in a new Apple iPhone 8, which is set to become the most-powerful smartphone of today. The kind of specs, features and design tech Apple is looking to incorporate in the iPhone 8 is simply mind blowing.
